Wayne Rooney draws level with Frank Lampard and Andy Cole with goal v Burnley

Wayne Rooney was back in the Manchester United team on Sunday and wasted little time getting himself on the scoresheet.

The Red Devils captain scored his side’s second goal in their Premier League match with Burnley, squeezing the ball over the line from a tight angle midway through the first half.

It was a fantastic way for the forward to mark his return to action having not featured for almost a month due to an injury and fitness issues.

As well as helping put his team in command at Turf Moor it also saw Rooney draw level with an achievement recorded by Frank Lampard and Andrew Cole. He’s now scored in 149 different Premier League games.
Only Alan Shearer – 190 – has scored in more.
