Arsenal have confirmed their team news for Saturday’s FA Cup final with Chelsea and Per Mertesacker ha been named in the starting XI.
The Gunners have faced a defensive crisis heading into this contest with Laurent Koscielny suspended after receiving a red card against Everton last week, while Gabriel Paulista suffered an injury in the same match.
It’s not all bad news for Arsenal though as Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have both been declared fit enough to feature in this contest.
Overall Arsene Wenger has made three changes to the side that won 3-1 over Everton with David Ospina coming into goal in place of Petr Cech.
Rob Holding has been given a starting berth in this match and will play alongside Mertsesacker and Nacho Monreal in defence. Oxlade-Chamberlain and Hector Bellerin are at wing-back.
Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey continue in the centre of midfield while Mesut Ozil is in an advanced position, alongside Alexis Sanchez.
Danny Welbeck plays up front as the lone striker.
Fans are struggling to understand why Ospina has been put in the starting XI over Cech, and showed that frustration on social media
